Louis Creed setting fire to Jud's house

Louis Creed sets fire to Jud Crandall's house in a desperate attempt to erase the physical evidence of the murders committed by his resurrected son, Gage. After killing Gage a second time with morphine injections, Louis finds Rachel's body in the upstairs hallway of Jud's house, stabbed repeatedly with his own scalpel. He wraps her in a sheet, then methodically douses the house with gasoline from a five-gallon can he finds in Jud's garage, beginning in the kitchen where Jud's body lies covered with a Thanksgiving tablecloth, then moving through the living room and hallway. He takes Jud's matches from beside the chair where the old man had kept his fruitless watch, lights one, and tosses it over his shoulder as he steps out the front door. The blast of heat is immediate and savage, making the skin on his neck feel too small. He shuts the door neatly and stands on the porch for a moment, watching the orange flickers behind Norma's curtains, remembering the beers he and Jud had shared there a million years ago. Then he steps out, carrying Rachel's body toward the path that leads to the Pet Sematary and the Micmac burying ground beyond, where he intends to bury her and attempt another resurrection.
