Gagarin Street

Gagarin Street appears only once in the novel, in the final chapter, when Alex's new droog Bully proposes a robbery there. The street is named as the target of a planned shop-crasting that Bully describes as offering "flip horrorshow takings" . Alex, however, refuses to participate, telling his droogs to "postpone nothing" and to carry on without him . This refusal is a key moment in Alex's gradual withdrawal from the life of violence and theft that defined his earlier years. The street itself is never described; it functions purely as a narrative marker of the kind of criminal opportunity that Alex now chooses to forgo. Its mention underscores the shift in Alex's priorities as he begins to contemplate a more settled, adult existence, one that includes work at the National Gramodisc Archives and the eventual desire for a wife and son (E00920–E00924). Gagarin Street thus represents the path not taken, the familiar world of easy crime that Alex is leaving behind as he "groweth up" .
