Early competence and bravery

He is a hero, though he feels guilty about Kraft's death. The Beginning of Doubt Yossarian begins to question the value of heroism. He sees that medals are given for destruction. His survival instinct grows stronger.

Trauma after Avignon

The Breaking Point The Naked Man After Avignon, Yossarian walks around naked. He refuses to wear a uniform. He sits in a tree during Snowden's funeral. He is in shock. The Aftermath Doc Daneeka gives him pills and shots. Yossarian sleeps for days. He is haunted by Snowden's secret. He realizes that life is fragile and meaningless. The Change Yossarian's priority shifts from duty to survival. He no longer cares about hitting targets. He only wants to live.

Refusal and rebellion
