Henry Bowers's Descent into Madness

Henry's transformation from a schoolyard bully to a murderous pawn of It, culminating in his death.

The First Kill

The Murder of His Father The Voice from the Moon Henry Bowers, already unstable, began hearing voices from the moon. The voice told him to kill his father, Butch Bowers. Henry obeyed, stabbing his father with a switchblade that had mysteriously appeared in the mailbox. This act severed his last connection to sanity. The Aftermath Henry was arrested for his father's murder and also blamed for the deaths of Victor Criss and Belch Huggins, who had been killed by It in the sewers. He was sent to Juniper Hill, a mental institution, where he spent the next twenty-seven years. The Cycle Henry's madness was fueled by It's influence. He became a tool of the entity, used to terrorize the Losers. His hatred for them, especially for Mike Hanlon, was a constant obsession.

The Escape and Attack

The Return to Derry The Escape When It awakened, Henry heard the voices again. He escaped from Juniper Hill, killing a guard. He hitchhiked to Derry, guided by the voice. He found his old switchblade in a sewer drain and made his way to the Derry Public Library, where he attacked Mike Hanlon. The Stabbing Henry stabbed Mike in the leg, but Mike fought back, stabbing Henry with a letter-opener. Henry fled, bleeding, and made his way to the Derry Town House, where he attacked Eddie Kaspbrak. Eddie killed Henry by impaling him with a broken Perrier bottle. The Death Henry died in Eddie's room, his body a testament to the violence that had consumed his life. His death marked the end of his role as It's pawn, but the Losers had already paid a heavy price for his madness.
