The First Attack

The Birth of the Shadow
The Clawed Beast
When Ged summoned Elfarran, a shadow-beast clambered through the breach and attacked him, tearing his face and shoulder. It was a shapeless, evil thing.
Nemmerle's Intervention
The Archmage drove it away, but it was now in the world. It had no name, and it was connected to Ged. This was the beginning of their conflict.
The Second Encounter

The Shadow at the Wall
The Waiting Enemy
When Ged ventured into the land of the dead to save Ioeth, the shadow was waiting for him at the wall. It stood on the side of the living, blocking his return.
The Escape
Ged raised his staff, which blazed with light, and leaped over the wall back into life. The shadow could not cross the boundary, but it had marked him.
The Gebbeth on Osskil

The Possessed Man
The Shadow's Voice
The shadow possessed Skiorh and used him to attack Ged. It spoke Ged's name, paralyzing his power. This was the shadow's most direct attempt to take him.
The Flight
Ged fled, barely escaping into the Court of the Terrenon. The shadow could not enter the Court, but it was now even closer to him.
The Chase Across the Sea

The Hunter Becomes the Hunted
The Summoning
Ged sailed into the Open Sea and summoned the shadow. It appeared and fled. He chased it, but it tricked him into shipwreck. The tables were turning.
The Third Meeting
In the Hands, Ged seized the shadow, but it slipped away. This meeting forged an unbreakable bond. Ged knew he could not escape, and he accepted that he must face it.
The Final Integration

The Union
The Name Revealed
Ged and the shadow met in the dark land. They spoke the same name: “Ged.” The shadow was his own dark self. Ged embraced it, and they merged into one.
The Victory
This was not a defeat of the shadow, but an integration. Ged became whole. The conflict was resolved not by destroying the enemy, but by accepting it as part of himself.
