The Overthrow of Jones

The animals expel Mr. Jones and his men, believing they have achieved freedom. They destroy the symbols of human oppression and renounce all human habits. The cycle of oppression seems to be broken. But the pigs are already preparing to take his place.
The Pigs' Alienation

The pigs begin to separate themselves from the other animals, claiming special status. They move into the farmhouse, sleep in beds, and use human objects. They are becoming the new masters. The other animals sense that something is wrong, but they cannot stop it.
The Use of Force

The dogs are used to enforce the pigs' will. The show trials and executions mimic the terror of human regimes. The animals are now afraid of their own leaders. The cycle of violence has begun again, this time within the animal community.
The Pigs Become Human

The pigs learn to walk on two legs, wear clothes, and carry whips. They drink alcohol and sleep in beds with sheets. They adopt all the vices that Old Major warned against. They have become exactly what they rebelled against. The cycle is complete.
The Indistinguishable Face

At the final dinner, the animals outside cannot tell the pigs from the humans. The faces have merged. The oppression is now identical. The revolution has turned full circle. The animals are left with nothing but the memory of a dream that was betrayed.
