Context Graff and Anderson have given Ender an army no one else would want and forbidden trades. They want to see if he can make something from nothing. Significance This challenge forces Ender to invent a new style of command rather than copy the existing armies.

Bean's Insolence

Bean's Insolence The smallest soldier, Bean, refuses to accept special treatment and demands a toon. Ender recognizes his brilliance and determines to make him a leader by making him the target of the army's resentment.
