The Final Ascent

The Chase Through Florence Cornered by Sinskey Zobrist is pursued by the WHO through Florence. Realizing he cannot escape, he climbs the Badia tower, a symbolic act of defiance. The Leap At the top, he addresses his pursuers, then jumps to his death. His last words are about his "gift" to the world. Sienna Brooks witnesses the fall, traumatized. The Aftermath Zobrist's body is found, but his true intentions remain hidden until the video and letter are discovered.

The Video Message

The Shade's Revelation The Video Recording Zobrist's video, left with the Consortium, shows him in a plague doctor costume, speaking from the underground cistern. He explains his creation, Inferno, and calls himself the Shade. The Masterpiece He describes the virus as a salvation for humanity, a way to cull the population without immediate death. He dedicates it to his lover, Sienna. The Impact The video shocks the Provost and Sinskey, forcing them to cooperate. It reveals the location of the virus but also confirms its release date was already past.

The Letter to Sienna

The Final Words The Description of the Virus Zobrist writes to Sienna, explaining that he has created a vector virus that causes infertility in one third of the population. He believes this is the only way to save humanity from overpopulation. The Personal Note He expresses his love for her and asks her to understand his actions. He says he is dying and wants to leave a legacy. The Destruction of the Letter Sienna reads the letter, is horrified, and burns it to prevent anyone from using the technology. She later reconstructs the details from memory for the WHO.
