The Hospital Role Playing Dr. Marconi Ferris, disguised as the elderly Dr. Marconi, administers drugs to Langdon and participates in the staged shooting. He is allergic to the latex spirit gum, causing a rash. The Baptistry Meeting Later, he approaches Langdon in the Baptistry, claiming to be a WHO agent named Jonathan Ferris. He convinces Langdon and Sienna to follow him to Venice. The Hidden Agenda Ferris is actually working for the Consortium, tasked with keeping Langdon away from Sinskey. He plays his role well, but his physical condition deteriorates.

The Truth Revealed The Chest Pain While in Venice, Ferris's chest pain worsens. He collapses in St. Mark's Basilica, and Sienna reveals his chest is badly bruised from a squib that went off wrong. The Confession After being revived, Ferris admits his role to Langdon on the plane. He explains that the Provost sent him to help maintain the illusion. He is now cooperating with Sinskey. The Arrest Ferris is arrested with the Provost in Istanbul. His double life ends, but he has provided useful intelligence.
