The Night Swim

A Fatal Dip
The Party
Christine Watkins, a drifter from Idaho, is a guest at Jack Foote's house. After a night of drinking, she and her date Tom Cassidy go to the beach. They have sex, then Tom falls asleep.
The Swim
Christine decides to swim alone. The water is cold. She swims out, unaware of the shark. The shark detects her vibrations and attacks.
The Attack
The shark bites off her leg, then crushes her torso. She screams, but no one hears. Her body is torn apart.
Discovery of the Body

The Gruesome Find
Search by Brody
Brody and Hendricks search the beach. Hendricks finds the remains: a head, shoulders, part of an arm, and a third of a trunk. He vomits.
Identification
Tom Cassidy identifies the body. Brody concludes it was a shark attack. The coroner confirms.
The Cover-Up Begins
Brody is pressured to keep the attack quiet. Christine's death is not reported. She is a nobody, so no one misses her.
