The Tragedy

Loss of Family The Cathedral Bombing Ávila loses his wife and son in a terrorist attack at the Cathedral of Seville. He is overcome with grief and guilt. Descent He turns to alcohol and attempts suicide. The navy discharges him.

The Conversion

Finding Purpose Meeting Marco In the hospital after a failed suicide, Ávila meets Marco, a fellow survivor who introduces him to the Palmarian Church. The church's doctrine of righteous anger gives him a new mission. The Pope's Influence Palmarian Pope Innocent XIV convinces Ávila that his desire for revenge is God's will. He becomes a devoted follower and is recruited for a 'holy mission'.

The Assassination

Completing the Mission The Regent's Orders Ávila receives orders from the Regent (Winston) to kill Kirsch. He is told Kirsch was responsible for the bombing. He carries out the assassination with precision. Escape He escapes the museum but is later tracked to Barcelona. His mission is not yet complete.

The End

A Violent Death Final Confrontation Ávila pursues Langdon and Vidal to Sagrada Família. He kills two guards but is defeated by Langdon on the spiral staircase. He falls to his death. Posthumous Infamy His tattoo and Palmarian connections fuel conspiracy theories. He is seen as a tool of the Regent, but his true motivations are lost in the chaos.
