Jud's Confession

A Dark History The Tale Begins Jud tells Louis about Timmy Baterman, a local boy killed in World War II. His father, Bill Baterman, brought Timmy's body to the Micmac burying ground and resurrected him. The Returned Timmy came back changed—evil, knowing people's secrets, and spreading malice. He terrorized the town until Bill shot him and burned down their house with both of them inside. The Warning Jud explains that the place corrupts what it brings back. He warns Louis that using it for humans is dangerous. Louis listens but is already tempted by the possibility of reversing death.

The Lesson Ignored

Jud's Final Plea A Late-Night Visit Jud comes to Louis's house after midnight, knowing Louis is considering resurrecting Gage. He retells the Timmy Baterman story in detail, emphasizing the horror. Louis's Denial Louis insists he has no such plan, but Jud sees through him. Jud makes Louis promise not to go to the burying ground. Louis promises, but his mind is already made up. The Inevitable Jud leaves, knowing his warning may not be enough. The power of the place is too strong. Louis's grief overrides reason.
