The Birth of the Conflict

The Birth of the Conflict A Dual Nature Jekyll has always been aware of a war within himself. He conceals his pleasures and maintains a grave public face. This internal division drives him to seek a scientific solution. The Dream of Separation He dreams of separating his two selves, allowing the evil to go free without remorse. This daydream becomes an obsession. The First Experiment When he succeeds in creating the drug, he believes he has found a way to resolve the conflict. But instead, he creates a new one: the struggle between Jekyll and Hyde.

The Escalation

The Escalation Hyde's Growing Power As Jekyll continues to use the drug, Hyde becomes stronger. He begins to appear involuntarily, and Jekyll loses control over his own body. The conflict becomes a battle for dominance. The Moral Struggle Jekyll tries to renounce Hyde, but he is addicted to the freedom. He falls back into temptation, and each time Hyde emerges more violent. The internal war becomes a cycle of guilt and indulgence. The Point of No Return After the murder, Jekyll knows he must stop, but he cannot. The conflict is now existential: he must choose between death and Hyde. He chooses the latter, and the war is lost.

The Final Defeat

The Final Defeat The Total Loss of Control Jekyll can no longer maintain his own identity. He is constantly at risk of transforming into Hyde. The drug is the only thing that keeps him himself, and the supply is running out. The Hatred of Hyde Jekyll grows to hate Hyde with a vital instinct, but he also pities him. Hyde, in turn, resents Jekyll. The two are locked in a symbiotic hatred. The End of the War Jekyll writes his confession, accepting defeat. He knows that Hyde will soon be the only one left. The internal war ends with the destruction of both, as Hyde's suicide also kills Jekyll.
