Post-apocalyptic society

A Boy and His Dog

Post-apocalyptic society is the governing condition of A Boy and His Dog, a world rebuilt after a nuclear World War III between the Americans and the Soviets. Scientific advances have made animal telepathy possible, but they have not restored social stability: fifteen-year-old Vic and his telepathic dog, Blood, move through a war-torn United States where food, weapons, shelter, women, and entertainment are all scarce commodities. The society that emerges is neither a functioning nation nor simple anarchy. It is a patchwork of solitary scavengers, armed roverpaks, radiation zones, ruined infrastructure, and enclosed communities whose methods of survival expose different forms of violence and control.
