Defining Sculpture

Defining Sculpture Intellectual Problem Floyd Meriwether asks students to define sculpture and refuses easy answers. Delayed Practice Material work is postponed until thought becomes sufficiently precise. The course establishes art as a discipline of seeing beneath surfaces.

Critical Apprenticeship

Critical Apprenticeship Selection Floyd Meriwether recognizes Jillian's paper as exceptional while disguising praise beneath criticism. Trust His mentorship gives her confidence and draws her into private late-night sessions. Artistic education becomes emotional intimacy.

Living Model

Living Model Exposure Jillian poses nude while Floyd Meriwether translates her body into clay. Misunderstanding She assumes his restraint means indifference, overlooking the intensity of his attention. The model is visible yet emotionally unreadable.

Goddess Form

Goddess Form Transformation The completed sculpture turns Jillian's criticized curves into a deliberate aesthetic ideal. Recognition She begins to understand that Floyd Meriwether saw beauty where she saw failure. Art supplies an external witness for an internal change.

Sculpting the Future

Sculpting the Future Continuation After their union, Floyd Meriwether immediately imagines another sculpture of Jillian. Integration Art, desire, and pack identity become ongoing practices rather than separate episodes. The artist's gaze now defines their shared future.
