Jack's Angel Ascension

Awakening the Angel System: Apocalypse: A LitRPG Progression Fantasy

Jack's Angel Ascension is the transformation that turns Jack Tanjihiro Chae-wong from a human relying on Eve's System into a full-fledged angel and, eventually, an administrator of that system. It is not merely an upgrade in strength. The ascension converts grief into a bodily and metaphysical rupture, changes Jack's place among the world's supernatural beings, and prepares him to confront Michael and the forces gathered around Adam.

The First Awakening

The decisive trigger is the death of Jill. Jack reaches her across the battlefield with his broken arms, calls repeatedly for his sister, and finally holds her body after his arms heal. His whispered pleas give way to a cry directed at the sky, a howl carrying the accumulated burden of his soul. That grief does not resolve into quiet mourning. It turns into a chuckle and then a manic laugh as the surrounding mana answers him: the earth shakes, the sky appears to weep, and the unseen molecules of the world react violently to the laughter of anguish.

The scene presents ascension as a value reversal. Jack begins in helpless attachment, unable to save Jill, and crosses into a state in which the world itself responds to his pain. Something inside him snaps and shifts, while his entire morphology becomes attuned to the fracturing environment. The System then announces that he has completed its tutorial, identifying the moment as a threshold rather than an ordinary increase in level. Brilliant gold and white energy pours from his body with such purity that Michael, watching from a distance, responds with satisfaction. Michael recognizes the historical scale of what has happened: after forty thousand years, a new angel has finally been born, and ancient malevolent beings and forgotten gods begin to stir across the globe.

Beyond the System

Jack's later condition clarifies what the first awakening accomplished. Six months after the battlefield trauma, he seldom needs the System. The experience has forced an evolution beyond merely imitating magic, and Jack is now a genuine angel who no longer requires Eve's curse, the System, as a crutch. The System remains useful as an instrument of observation: it lets him monitor his strength, skills, health, mana, and Ruby Viole Lamperouge's condition in real time. Its role has therefore changed from the source of borrowed capability to a convenient interface used by someone who has exceeded its original limits.

The transition is repeatedly marked through system feedback. Earlier manifestations include Jack's golden eyes mixed with red as the Authority of Gehenna rises from level two to level three, and the Angel System later records him at level ten with the title Nephilim, accompanied by enhanced regeneration and mana synthesis. These displays make the transformation legible in the vocabulary of a game interface, but the surrounding scenes insist that its costs are physical and emotional rather than abstract. Corrupted data produces an explicit warning when Jack tries to reach Jill, while the system can unlock new capacities only after extreme suffering and immediate need. At a later crisis, when Jack is desperate for a power capable of saving people on the brink of destruction, it announces a Radiant Skill and makes an Anti-Army Class Skill available. The interface translates trauma, danger, and moral urgency into computable permissions, even as Jack's actions exceed the system's former authority.

Fusion with Sahaqiel

The ascension reaches its most complete expression when Jack and Sahaqiel merge during the confrontation involving Michael and Adam. A scream combines their voices as intense electrical voltages flare through the chamber. When the light fades, Sahaqiel is no longer visibly standing apart from Jack. Jack emerges with his eye patch fallen away, two burning golden eyes, six wings—four pristine white and two shadowed black—and shackles attached to obsidian chains wrapped around his arms. Adam, the First Awakened, suddenly dissipates into ash as Jack steps forward with lightning coursing through his luminous body and pulsing from runic tattoos covering him from head to toe.

This is explicitly different from Jack and Sahaqiel's first meeting. Their bodies merge again, but the new union is between an archangel and an angel, placing them above the false Awakened and ordinary humans. Sahaqiel remains present within the fusion rather than being erased: she manifests her spiritual form behind Jack and embraces him, while Jack experiences the transformed body as something that feels better. Their relationship thus becomes part of the ascension's structure. The new power is neither Jack's solitary triumph nor Sahaqiel's disappearance, but a conjoined state in which two beings act through one superior form.

The fused Jack immediately turns that power toward Michael. He raises one hand against the Black King while forming a large obsidian shield with the other, and his threat is not abstract: he openly declares his intention to attack Michael. A portal then removes Ada Nguyen and the coalition forces from the immediate danger, separating them from the coming confrontation while allowing Jack and Sahaqiel to remain as the direct opposition to Michael.

Administrator Authority

The ascension ultimately changes Jack's relationship to the System itself. In the ruins, he commands the Angel System to awaken, and golden translucent interfaces appear before everyone present. Unlike the interfaces beside the others, Jack's is labeled Administrator. Selfia Cordelica recognizes the resemblance to the System and to abilities she lost five years earlier, making the display both a revelation of Jack's new status and a reminder of a power that once structured her own life.

The Administrator designation is the political and metaphysical culmination of the transformation. Jack is no longer simply a user receiving levels, titles, skills, debuffs, and resistances. He can call the system into public view and expose its operation to others. The golden light surrounding him is described as warm and comforting, contrasting with the violence of the battlefield awakening and the threatening black elements of his fused form. The same ascension therefore contains incompatible appearances: purity and shadow, comfort and menace, liberation from the System and command over it.

Meaning and Consequences

Jack's Angel Ascension binds personal catastrophe to world-scale change. Jill's death initiates the transformation, but the consequences extend far beyond Jack's private grief: Michael identifies the birth of a new angel, dormant beings react across the globe, and Jack later becomes powerful enough to oppose the plans centered on Adam. His evolution also creates a sharp contrast with political actors who justify mass violence as necessary for humanity's survival. Selfia Cordelica describes a purge of three hundred and sixty-nine lives, while Jack rejects the claim that murder and the endangerment of his child can be dressed up as necessity. Against that logic of calculated sacrifice, his ascension begins with the unbearable refusal to lose anyone else, even though its immediate source is the loss of Jill.

The state also complicates the meaning of freedom. Jack escapes dependence on Eve's curse and outgrows the System's original function, yet he eventually gains Administrator access rather than abandoning systems of control altogether. His power can save, protect, and reveal, but it also places him above the ordinary users and humans whom the system categorizes. The six wings, the mixed white and black coloration, the chains, and the Administrator interface make the transformation a visible synthesis of transcendence and burden. Jack becomes an angel not by leaving suffering behind, but by carrying grief, attachment, rage, and responsibility into a form capable of changing the rules by which the world is governed.
