Liebe auf den ersten Blick

Box Set: Samsons Sterbliche Geliebte & Samson's Lovely Mortal (Deutsch·Englisch) (Scanguards Vampire) (German Edition)

Liebe auf den ersten Blick is the expression Samson Woodford uses to frame his feelings for Delilah Sheridan as love that began at their very first encounter. Its significance lies in the gap between his retrospective certainty and her fear that his attachment is temporary, rooted in sexual need rather than lasting affection.

Meaning in the Scene

Samson places the beginning of his love in the moment Delilah fell into his arms as he opened the door. He says he did not understand what he felt then, but now sees that first contact as the instant he fell in love. The expression therefore names not an immediate declaration between them, but a meaning Samson assigns to their meeting after his feelings have developed.

Promise and Doubt

Samson insists that his feelings will endure even though the two have known each other for only three days. He describes being with Delilah as making his world feel perfect and says she draws tenderness and affection out of him, qualities he had not previously sought to express. His declaration expands the phrase beyond sudden attraction: he presents it as the start of a changed way of loving and promises to begin again and do what he can to make her happy.

Delilah is moved by his words but is not ready to make an irreversible choice. She suspects he wants her because he needs sex and because she has helped repair his condition; she fears that once this need passes, he will discard her. Thus the phrase carries two competing meanings in the scene: for Samson, first sight reveals a love he now believes permanent; for Delilah, the intensity of his claim cannot yet dispel the possibility that it is only dependence dressed as devotion.
