Samson Woodford–Ricky relationship

Box Set: Samsons Sterbliche Geliebte & Samson's Lovely Mortal (Deutsch·Englisch) (Scanguards Vampire) (German Edition)

Samson Woodford and Ricky share a friendship shaped by their work together: Ricky can reach Samson with urgent news, challenge him with personal observations, and accompany him into dangerous investigations. Their bond is not presented through a single declaration of loyalty, but through repeated acts of coordination. Ricky brings Samson information, helps turn suspicion into specific inquiries, and remains beside him as the investigation moves from a threatened theater date to the pursuit of those responsible.

A trusted colleague in urgent moments

After a night with Delilah Sheridan, Samson sleeps unusually deeply and wakes at sunset to find Ricky has sent a message more urgent than the one from the previous evening. Samson calls him from his bedroom before going upstairs. The opening exchange makes their working familiarity clear: Samson asks whether the man who attacked him and Delilah has been found, while Ricky answers that Thomas is following a lead and signals that the matter he needs to discuss is something else. Ricky therefore does not merely pass along routine updates; he knows when a matter requires Samson’s attention and is able to interrupt the personal aftermath of Samson’s night with Delilah.

Ricky also speaks plainly about Samson’s feelings. Before relaying what Carl has discovered, he warns that Samson may not like the news, especially given how taken he is with Delilah. Samson cuts him off with a growl, unwilling to hear Ricky’s assessment of a relationship he does not yet understand himself. The exchange shows both the ease of their familiarity and its limits: Ricky feels entitled to name what he sees, while Samson can bristle at being read. Yet the disagreement does not obstruct their work. Ricky proceeds to the information, and Samson turns immediately to the investigation.

Turning suspicion into an investigation

When Samson decides that Delilah’s background needs checking, Ricky offers to investigate who she really is. Samson accepts and gives him a concrete assignment: establish her background, while Amaury speaks with Carl about anything unusual in her belongings and checks who owns the apartment from which Carl collected them. Samson also asks that Oliver be questioned about Delilah’s activities during the day he spent with her. The division of labor places Ricky inside a broader information-gathering network, but gives him a distinct role: tracing identity and background while the others examine objects, property, and recent movements.

This task follows a moment of emotional shock for Samson. He has overheard Ilona Hampstead discussing the prospect of gaining access to his wealth after a blood-bond, and he concludes that she has been with him for his money. When Amaury questions how deeply Delilah could have affected him after only one night, Samson sets aside the personal wound and insists that they get to the bottom of the matter quickly. Ricky’s offer is part of that pivot. Their partnership lets Samson convert distress into action, even as the facts being investigated threaten to entangle his feelings with his judgment.

Coordinating pursuit and protection

Once Thomas reports that the man who attacked Samson and Delilah has been found, Samson is relieved to have something productive to do. He decides that he and Amaury will go, orders Amaury to continue learning what he can about Delilah with Carl’s help, and tells Ricky that the two of them will take Ricky’s car. Ricky is thus both an investigator and a practical partner in the pursuit. The detail of using his car makes their cooperation immediate and material: Ricky is not simply a distant source of intelligence but is expected to accompany Samson as the group acts on its lead.

At the encounter with the captured attacker, Samson asks whether any of his companions used mind control to frighten the prisoner. Ricky shakes his head, as do Thomas and Milo. Samson then orders the area searched for other vampires and sends Thomas and Milo to retrieve John Reardon, while keeping the attacker in custody until he can speak to Reardon’s brother-in-law himself. Ricky’s role in this moment is limited but telling: Samson checks with him as part of the trusted group responsible for the prisoner and the investigation, and Ricky answers directly. The scene establishes a division of responsibility without implying that Ricky has authority equal to Samson’s.

Friendship observed by the group

After Billy has been left in a container with a blanket and water, Ricky asks Thomas whether he heard Samson call Delilah his wife. Thomas confirms the word Ricky is referring to, and Ricky wonders whether Samson meant it. The question reveals Ricky’s attentiveness to Samson beyond the immediate mechanics of the case. He notices the significance of a word Samson has used under pressure and tests its meaning with another colleague. His curiosity also contrasts with Samson’s earlier irritation when Ricky openly described him as infatuated: Ricky continues to observe the relationship, even when Samson resists having it interpreted for him.

Ricky and Thomas later approach a house quietly, intending to ring the bell. When Thomas hears a scream from inside, they exchange a brief look, run to the entrance, and break the door down. A woman’s hysterical cries and a small child’s crying come from the back of the house. The evidence presents Ricky acting alongside Thomas rather than Samson in this immediate response, but it complements the wider picture of a close-knit operational circle in which Ricky takes decisive action when danger becomes audible. His partnership with Samson is therefore both personal and practical: he can tease or challenge him, deliver unwelcome news, share the risk of a pursuit, and move quickly when an apparent emergency demands it.
