Samson Woodford–Thomas friendship
Box Set: Samsons Sterbliche Geliebte & Samson's Lovely Mortal (Deutsch·Englisch) (Scanguards Vampire) (German Edition)Samson Woodford and Thomas’s friendship, built over nearly a century, is tested when a crisis at Scanguards makes Thomas appear to be a traitor. The apparent betrayal is instead Milo’s: he exploits Thomas’s trust, steals access to the company’s money, and leaves him restrained in silver chains. Samson’s response moves from alarm and painful suspicion to relief, reassurance, and a consequential act of trust: he gives Thomas authority to judge the man who betrayed him.
A Longstanding Bond in the Scanguards Circle
Thomas is part of Samson’s close circle, not simply a colleague who appears when a problem needs solving. Samson later describes him as a friend of almost a hundred years, a span that gives the financial crisis its personal force. Their connection sits within the everyday social world of Scanguards: when Thomas arrives with Milo, both men wear motorcycle gear, and Thomas introduces his companion with an arm around his shoulder. Their presence helps Delilah feel that there are people in the room who are not a threat and might protect her. Thomas’s place in the group is thus established both through his intimate life and through the security he represents to others.
The friendship also carries professional trust. When Amaury calls Thomas for help with encrypted files, he turns to Thomas’s expertise, and Thomas is involved in work that reaches directly into the company’s security. Samson’s later response shows how closely personal loyalty and institutional responsibility are bound together for him: when he hears that millions may be at risk and that Thomas may be involved, he must confront the possibility that a friend of many decades has betrayed both him and Scanguards.
Suspicion, Capture, and Recognition
The crisis first strikes Samson as a double betrayal. He is told that Thomas is stealing from the company and was the person who tried to harm Delilah. Samson’s friendship does not erase the stakes: the theft could leave Scanguards unable to meet payroll, and the alleged attack places someone he loves in danger. He decides that the situation must be acted on, even though accepting the report means suspecting a friend whose loyalty he has relied on for generations.
The discovery in Thomas’s dungeon reverses that judgment. Samson, Ricky, and Amaury find Thomas restrained against a wall with silver chains, which he cannot break; painful sores mark the places where the silver touches him. The sight brings Samson immediate relief: Thomas has not betrayed him but has been overpowered. The silver-bound body is decisive evidence that the apparent offender is instead a victim, and the reversal transforms the urgent search from a pursuit of a suspected traitor into a rescue of a friend.
Thomas is still in pain when he explains that Milo stole his password and is going to ruin Samson. He apologizes for not seeing the danger coming, but Samson does not treat the failure to anticipate Milo’s scheme as disloyalty. He has Thomas given blood, promises that they will catch Milo, and tells him that none of them saw the betrayal coming. Once Samson knows his friend is alive and was not the enemy, the immediate need to act against Thomas gives way to care and cooperation.
Loyalty After Milo’s Betrayal
Thomas’s account makes clear that Milo’s deception was personal as well as criminal. Thomas had become jealous of Milo’s secrecy and, using a chip planted in Milo’s phone, recorded his conversations. He was listening to those recordings when Amaury called about the encrypted files and recognized Milo’s voice in the background. That suspicion helped reveal the plot, even as Thomas’s relationship with Milo had made him vulnerable to it. Samson responds by stopping Thomas and Amaury from turning blame inward: Milo knew about Amaury’s ability to sense emotions and had guarded his own feelings, while Thomas had trusted a lover who was deceiving him.
Samson’s reassurance does not minimize the harm or confuse forgiveness with impunity. He acknowledges that Milo betrayed Thomas, stole from Scanguards, nearly killed him, and endangered people important to him. Yet he recognizes Thomas as the person most directly wronged and asks what Thomas wants done. In doing so, Samson gives their friendship practical meaning: he does not take revenge into his own hands or presume that his own anger should determine the verdict.
Thomas refuses to become a killer. He condemns Milo’s deception and violence, declares that he is no longer welcome, and orders that he be escorted out of the country. He also warns that he will oppose any coven that shelters Milo and that Milo will be destroyed if he returns. Samson’s role is to honor that decision and ensure Milo is removed, rather than to override Thomas’s judgment. Their bond therefore survives not by pretending the betrayal caused no damage, but through Samson’s recognition of what happened to Thomas and his willingness to let Thomas choose a response.
The Friendship’s Measure
The near-century friendship is defined most sharply by the speed and gravity of Samson’s misjudgment—and by what he does once the truth is visible. The threat to Scanguards and Delilah makes his fear of betrayal real; the silver chains expose the mistaken assumption beneath it. Samson then combines protection with trust: he helps Thomas recover, rejects blame for having been deceived, and returns the decision about Milo to the friend who suffered the betrayal most directly.
The episode also places their loyalty within a wider community of care. Samson is troubled not only by the danger to the company but by Thomas’s suffering, and after the rescue he addresses him as a friend rather than as a failed security or financial officer. Thomas, in turn, remains able to act according to his own moral limit, choosing exile over murder. Their friendship emerges as a durable alliance tested by a crisis in which professional trust, personal affection, and judgment briefly pull in different directions, then are brought back together through the rescue and Thomas’s final choice.
