Cleansed Threewells
Cinnamon BunCleansed Threewells names the condition of Threewells after Broccoli Bunch destroys the Wonderland Dungeon Core beneath or within the settlement. The change is both practical and symbolic: the dungeon is gone, the town’s oppressive supernatural danger has been broken, and the surrounding environment becomes visibly more alive, yet Threewells remains a damaged place whose ruined buildings, lingering mysteries, and surviving inhabitants prevent “cleansing” from meaning complete restoration.
Definition and Transformation
Cleansed Threewells begins with an act of magical violence carried out through Cleaning. The ability is introduced as a skill that improves the user’s capacity to clean as its rank rises; it is not merely household labor, but a force that can be directed against hostile supernatural matter. When a ghost seizes Broccoli Bunch by the face, Cleaning magic shoots into it and makes the ghost burst apart. That use establishes the central double meaning of cleansing in Threewells: the same power that removes ordinary dirt can also destroy beings treated as dangerous spiritual contamination.
The town’s decisive transformation comes when Broccoli reaches the Wonderland Dungeon Core and confronts the Evil Root associated with it. The core is identified explicitly as the Dungeon Core for the Wonderland Dungeon, while the root appears as a separate, disturbing manifestation beside it. After the confrontation, the system announces that the quest is complete, declares that “The world thanks you for your sacrifice!”, and confirms that the Wonderland Dungeon Core has been destroyed. Broccoli receives two General Points, making the cleansing legible not only as a physical change to the settlement but also as a formally recognized achievement within the world’s leveling system.
The Cleansing’s Immediate Effects
The destruction leaves a large crater where the dungeon had been. Threewells is therefore not restored to its former shape; the site of the threat becomes an absence, a wound in the town’s geography. Yet the atmosphere changes sharply. Broccoli notices more plants than before, experiences the air as vibrant and thick with magic, and sees the sky turn burnt orange as darkness approaches. The environment’s renewed vitality contrasts with the crater and the damaged town, suggesting that the dungeon’s removal releases or permits a life that had previously been suppressed.
The aftermath also includes a striking reduction in immediate supernatural activity. Broccoli intends to check on a friendly ghost at the inn and investigate a building with a large locked door before spending one last night in Threewells, so cleansing does not erase every unexplained presence or unanswered question at once. At the same time, the houses nearest the town’s northern side are in severe disrepair, with collapsed roofs and walls torn open, and no ghost remains nearby to frighten inexperienced level-one adventurers. The danger has receded, but the material consequences of abandonment remain plainly visible.
Ruins, Memory, and Continued Exploration
Cleansed Threewells is defined by coexistence between purification and residue. The town still contains houses, locked spaces, a crater, and traces of the earlier haunting. Broccoli walks through the settlement checking the buildings that were missed before, treating the newly safer town as a place that can finally be examined rather than merely survived. The intention to return to the inn and investigate the locked building shows that cleansing opens narrative possibilities instead of closing the town’s story completely.
The surrounding landscape reinforces this threshold status. From a plateau reached during travel through the wider region, the Darkwoods appear as a sea of trees, with marshes to the east, mountains to the north, and a possible huge lake to the south. The view places Threewells within a broad frontier rather than isolating it as a self-contained haunted village. A few surviving structures—wooden shacks with tiled roofs and a large corrugated-tin building marked by rust and grime—connect the settlement’s ruin to the physical world beyond it. The cleansed town is thus both a cleared site and a point of departure for further movement.
Broccoli Bunch’s Relation to the Cleansed Town
The condition of Threewells also records Broccoli Bunch’s development. The destruction of the core follows earlier encounters in which Cleaning is tested against ghosts, and it culminates in a system-confirmed victory that grants both quest completion and General Points. Broccoli’s response is not solemn composure but an uncontrolled fit of maniacal laughter brought on by exhaustion, adrenaline, and the absurdity of survival. Afterward, Broccoli inspects damaged clothing, including holes in the armored skirt and ruined stockings, before turning attention back to the transformed settlement.
That emotional sequence matters because cleansing does not make Broccoli a detached exterminator. Even after destroying an entire dungeon, Broccoli’s next stated objective is to make friends and form an adventurous party. The new resolve is immediately translated into ordinary, relational actions: checking on the nice ghost, looking into the locked building, and walking through the remaining houses. Threewells becomes the place where a destructive accomplishment is followed by a social ambition. The town’s purification therefore leads not to isolation, but to Broccoli’s renewed desire for companionship and a wider life.
Narrative Significance
Cleansed Threewells is a state of release rather than a simple happy ending. The destruction of the Wonderland Dungeon Core removes the central threat and changes the local magical atmosphere, but the crater, ruined houses, surviving ghosts or ghost-related mysteries, and locked building preserve the evidence of what the town endured. The result is a landscape in which danger has been reduced without history being erased.
The state also clarifies the book’s treatment of Cleaning as a system power. Cleaning operates at several scales: it is a ranked skill, a weapon against ghosts, and the mechanism through which a dungeon’s corrupting presence is ultimately overcome. The world’s reward structure translates that act into points and quest completion, while the physical aftermath resists such neat accounting. A menu can announce that the dungeon has been destroyed; it cannot instantly rebuild Threewells. That gap between procedural victory and material recovery gives the cleansed town its distinctive significance: it is safe enough to explore, alive enough to renew hope, and damaged enough to remember the cost of purification.
