Rainbow Bar & Grill

Daisy Jones & the Six

Rainbow Bar & Grill is where the band, Daisy Jones, Rod Reyes, and Teddy Price gathered after Graham Dunne called everyone back together. The reunion began warmly, but Daisy’s toast shifted the evening from catching up to defining what her place in the group would be.

The Reunion

The gathering brought together the band and the people around it. Warren Rhodes talked about his boat, Pete about Jenny Manes, and Billy Dunne showed Rod Reyes photographs of his twins. Daisy recalled that everyone was getting along, even Billy and Eddie Loving, whose relationship had often been strained. Rod raised his beer to welcome Daisy into the band, framing her arrival as a reason for the group’s future to rise.

Daisy felt genuinely welcomed: Karen embraced her, and the group applauded. She stood with her brandy to answer Rod’s toast, but her words made clear that she was not treating the occasion as a guest appearance or a place on a single album. She said she was glad they had invited her to join them on the album, then clarified that she was coming aboard officially as a member of the team.

A Place in the Band

At Rainbow Bar & Grill, Daisy asked the group to recognize her as an important member and to regard the album as hers as much as it belonged to Graham, Warren, Pete, Eddie, and Karen. Her speech addressed the uncertainty surrounding her offer: Billy had not called since she was invited, and she had heard little about how the arrangement would work or how he felt about it. Rather than leave her status implicit, she made membership and shared ownership explicit.

The response exposed a difference between welcome and equality. Warren thought Daisy should simply be allowed to join, while Billy regarded the prospect of seven people in the band as a complication and resisted promising her anything. The location thus marks both a social welcome and the beginning of a negotiation over creative standing and authority.

The Band’s Name

As the discussion grew tense, Teddy Price proposed that the group be called Daisy Jones & The Six. Rod recalled that nobody was happy with the suggestion, though everyone was dissatisfied to roughly the same degree. Daisy understood Teddy’s proposal as an effort to put her name prominently before the public, fitting the attention she brought to the band. Billy, by contrast, saw Teddy as protecting The Six from having to make a commitment to Daisy.

The meeting at Rainbow Bar & Grill therefore joined celebration to unresolved bargaining. Daisy’s arrival was welcomed in person, but her demand to be recognized as a full member brought the group’s underlying disagreement into the open: whether her visibility would amount to genuine participation or remain a useful addition that the band could define on its own terms.
