Winter 1974

Daisy Jones & the Six

Winter 1974 is the period when Billy Dunne entered rehabilitation, interrupting The Six’s tour and reshaping the band’s immediate routines. Its significance lies both in that pause and in the family milestone that followed: after sixty days in treatment, Billy finally met his daughter, Julia.

Billy Enters Rehabilitation

Billy entered a rehabilitation center in the winter of 1974. The Six canceled the few remaining dates on the rest of their tour, making his treatment a disruption not only to his own life but also to the band’s ongoing work. The season thus marks a concrete break in the group’s public schedule.

The Band and Family During the Pause

The other members took time off, though they settled in different places. Warren Rhodes bought a boat and docked it off the shore in Marina del Rey. Eddie Loving, Graham Dunne, and Karen stayed at the Topanga Canyon house, while Pete moved temporarily to the East Coast to be with his girlfriend, Jenny Manes. Camila rented a house in Eagle Rock and settled into motherhood there.

What Followed

After sixty days in rehabilitation, Billy finally met Julia. The interval connects his treatment to a first encounter with his daughter, while the canceled tour and the band members’ separate arrangements show how the same pause reached beyond the rehabilitation center into the band’s shared life.
