Medicos for Mexico office

Day of the Dead

The Medicos for Mexico office is a converted commercial space on the north side of East Broadway in Tucson. First visited by Brandon Walker while pursuing information connected to Lawrence Stryker, it later becomes a surveillance point from which Brandon watches the Strykers’ movements. Its back entrance, normally marked for deliveries, gives Gayle Stryker a way to leave while avoiding reporters gathered at the front.

Setting and Layout

The office occupies part of a building that had once been an automobile dealership. An upscale resale furniture store had taken over the showroom, while Medicos for Mexico’s offices were created by remodeling the former service bays. Brandon enters through the front and finds a spacious lobby, placing the organization’s public-facing reception area within a repurposed commercial property.

Brandon’s Visits

Brandon’s first documented visit comes during a stop on his way home from the medical examiner’s office. He asks to see Lawrence Stryker, but has no appointment; the receptionist responds with guarded resistance. The encounter establishes that Brandon is seeking direct access to Stryker and that the office does not immediately welcome his inquiry.

By ten the next morning, Brandon has returned in his Suburban and is waiting outside. He is tired after a sleepless night and nursing an arm strained while working at Fat Crack Ortiz’s grave. To break up the wait, he crosses the street to a Circle K for coffee and a newspaper, then resumes watching the office and its comings and goings.

Surveillance and Departure

The office’s layout becomes consequential when Gayle exits through a metal rear door marked for deliveries. Seeking to avoid the reporters stationed at the front, she hurries across the parking lot, unlocks a Lexus sedan, and drives away by the back route. Brandon recognizes that he could follow her, but stays in place to keep watch for Lawrence Stryker instead. The office thus functions not only as the Strykers’ workplace setting but also as a point where their different movements force Brandon to choose what to follow.
