Kayce-on-the-Coast
Fire & BloodKayce-on-the-Coast appears in the account of the Dance of the Dragons as a Lannister concern under threat from Dalton Greyjoy’s longships. The surviving evidence places it within the western conflict and identifies its defense as one of the practical stakes in Lady Johanna Lannister’s negotiations with the Iron Throne.
Wartime Importance
After Lord Jason Lannister died, his four-year-old son Loreon inherited the western lordship, and Lady Johanna governed in his stead. With Dalton Greyjoy’s longships still menacing the coasts, the Lannisters were focused on defending Kayce-on-the-Coast and recovering Fair Isle rather than renewing the fight over the Iron Throne.
Place in the Peace Settlement
Lady Johanna accepted the Sea Snake’s terms and promised to come to King’s Landing to do homage at the new king’s coronation. In return, she asked the Iron Throne to order Dalton Greyjoy back to his islands, restore Fair Isle to its rightful lords, and free the women he had taken. The account names Kayce-on-the-Coast as a place requiring defense, but gives no further description of its size, fortifications, or subsequent fate.
