Lady Forlorn

Fire & Blood

Lady Forlorn is the famed Valyrian steel blade and a source of pride for House Corbray. Its appearances connect the house’s martial prestige to moments of political pressure: in one council chamber, the sword’s point becomes a warning to a disgraced Hand; later, it is carried into the host advancing on King’s Landing.

A Valyrian Steel Heirloom

The account identifies Lady Forlorn as a Valyrian steel blade and the pride of House Corbray. It gives no account of the sword’s making or earlier history, but its status is clear in the way it is named: not merely as a weapon, but as a celebrated possession of the house.

The Council Confrontation

When Rogar Baratheon’s attempt to set aside Jaehaerys was rejected by the Queen Regent and the councillors, Qarl Corbray rose and drew Lady Forlorn. He laid the sword on the table with its point facing Rogar. The gesture made the balance of power in the room visible: Rogar understood that he stood alone, and soon afterward surrendered the golden brooch that marked his office and left King’s Landing.

The blade does not strike anyone in this scene. Its force lies in the threat it makes legible without a blow, turning the council table into the boundary Rogar cannot cross without confronting the opposition gathered before him.

Carried on the March

Lady Forlorn appears again as the famous Valyrian blade borne by Ser Corwyn Corbray, brother of Lord Leowyn Corbray. The brothers lead the Vale’s army sent from Gulltown while Cregan Stark and the Riverlands host also advance toward the capital. The sword’s presence with Corwyn places the house’s emblematic weapon among the forces converging on King’s Landing, extending its association from a charged council encounter to the wider military crisis.
