Qohor

Fire & Blood

Qohor was a stop on Daemon Targaryen and Laena Velaryon’s journey through Essos, where the reception they received was notably less fervent than in some of the other cities they visited. Its place in the account also shows how the dragons drew crowds even where their riders’ welcome was muted.

Setting and Visit

After visiting Pentos and Old Volantis, Daemon and Laena flew up the Rhoyne to Qohor and Norvos. The cities lay far from Westeros and from the Triarchy’s power and troubles. Unlike the warm welcomes the couple had received in Pentos and Old Volantis, their reception in Qohor and Norvos was less rapturous.

The Dragons’ Audience

The cooler reception did not mean the visit went unnoticed. Huge crowds turned out in Qohor, as elsewhere on the journey, for a glimpse of Vhagar and Caraxes. The contrast between the restrained welcome for the riders and the public draw of their dragons marks Qohor as a stop where spectacle crossed political distance: even far from Westeros, the dragons commanded attention.
