Seagard

Fire & Blood

Seagard enters the account of the Dance of the Dragons through Lord Jorah Mallister and the Riverlands’ struggle against Aegon II. Its clearest connection to the conflict is a stark one: Mallister joined the Riverlords’ cause and died in the battle that shattered the king’s last army.

Lord of Seagard

Lord Jorah Mallister is identified as a lord of Seagard and among the Riverlords who gathered when Elmo Tully called his banners again. The renewed rising followed the king’s campaign against Crownlands lords who had supported Rhaenyra: they had been forced to pay ransoms and provide hostages, a punishment that helped turn opposition into another call to arms.

Seagard and the Riverlords’ Resistance

Mallister joined a coalition assembled under Elmo Tully, alongside lords and fighters from across the Trident. The account places him among those who answered Tully’s summons, linking Seagard to a wider resistance rather than describing a separate action by the town or its forces. That coalition later met Borros Baratheon’s army near King’s Landing, where the kingsroad ran between a wood and a low hill.

The Battle of the Kingsroad

At the battle, the Riverlords held their position against Borros’s charge, while archers and reinforcements from the wood helped turn the fighting against the stormlanders. When Borros’s allies failed to advance and others changed sides, the king’s army broke. Lord Mallister was among the lords killed in the battle. His death ties Seagard’s lord directly to the defeat of Aegon II’s final field army, though the account gives no further description of the town’s subsequent role.
