The Shield Isles were among the territories whose lords submitted during Prince Daeron the Daring’s victories in the Reach. Their submission is recorded as part of the wartime pressure exerted by Tessarion, the Blue Queen.

Submission in the Reach

During the campaign, Daeron and Lord Hightower secured the submission of the Shield Isles’ lords, alongside the Rowans of Goldengrove and the Oakhearts of Old Oak. The account attributes their unwillingness to resist to Tessarion: none dared face the dragon. The islands’ place in the narrative is therefore defined by submission under the threat of dragonpower, rather than by a separately described battle there.
