Starfall
Fire & BloodStarfall is identified in the early Dornish Wars both as the place from which a Dornish force set out against the Reach and as a target of dragonfire during the Targaryen response. Its brief appearances connect it to the conflict’s pattern of swift raids and retaliatory attacks.
A Dornish force advances from Starfall
The year after Lord Fowler’s army crossed the Prince’s Pass into the Reach, a second Dornish force under Ser Joffrey Dayne came down from Starfall and attacked Oldtown. The city’s walls held, but Dayne’s men burned the surrounding fields, farms, and villages for twenty leagues and killed Lord Hightower’s younger son, Garmon, when he led a sortie. The attack drew Ser Addam Hightower back from Nightsong to relieve Oldtown; by then, Dayne and his army had withdrawn into the mountains.
A target in the dragon campaign
After the Oldtown attack, Aegon I Targaryen and his queens renewed their assault on Dorne. Aegon fell upon Skyreach, while Visenya Targaryen and Vhagar brought fire and blood to Starfall. Rhaenys Targaryen and Meraxes attacked the Hellholt, where Meraxes was struck by a scorpion bolt and died in the resulting crash. The account identifies Starfall as one of the places struck in this campaign, but does not specify the damage inflicted there.
Place in the conflict
Starfall’s role in these passages is defined by its position within an escalating exchange: a Dornish army moves from it to strike at Oldtown, and the Targaryen response reaches Starfall itself. The narrative places the town among the locations exposed to the war’s repeated incursions, without detailing its condition or the fate of its inhabitants.
