Steffon Connington
Fire & BloodSer Steffon Connington was a second son of the Lord of Griffin’s Roost and a knight whose brief prominence arose from the dangers facing Storm’s End after Borros Baratheon’s death. Chosen as Elenda Baratheon’s husband for his proven valor, he became part of her effort to maintain order; his pursuit of Dornish raiders ended with his death and her second widowhood.
Background and Reputation
Steffon was twenty years younger than Elenda and had already distinguished himself in Borros Baratheon’s campaign against the Vulture King. He was described as fierce as well as handsome, but it was his demonstrated valor in that campaign that particularly recommended him as a husband for the widowed Lady of Storm’s End.
Marriage and the Stormlands
With Borros dead and his son Olyvar still an infant, Elenda faced growing trouble in the stormlands. Dornish incursions had become more frequent, while outlaws in the kingswood were also proving troublesome. She felt the need for a man’s strong hand to help keep the peace and chose Steffon, whose martial record offered a practical answer to the instability surrounding her young son’s inheritance.
Death and Consequence
Steffon’s new role brought him directly into the dangers he had been chosen to confront. While pursuing a small band of Dornish raiders across the marches, he rode too far and too fast, unaware of what lay ahead. One-armed Wyland Wyl came down upon him, and Steffon was killed. His death left Elenda widowed again, ending the brief marriage before it could secure lasting stability for Storm’s End.
