Stormbreakers

Fire & Blood

The Stormbreakers were a free company formed in the aftermath of the Dance of the Dragons. Its creation reflected a choice made by some of the Northmen who had marched south with Cregan Stark: rather than return to a land facing winter and the prospect of hunger, they sought paid service across the Narrow Sea. The company was financed and led by Ser Oscar Tully, and drew men from every part of Westeros.

Formation and Composition

The Stormbreakers emerged as the Triarchy collapsed and the Three Daughters began hiring free companies for the wars ahead. Northern veterans saw those opportunities as a chance to earn gold instead of returning north. Their departure helped produce two companies: the Wolf Pack, made up entirely of Northmen, and the more broadly recruited Stormbreakers, whose ranks included men from throughout Westeros.

Leadership and Departure

Ser Oscar Tully financed and commanded the Stormbreakers. At the close of 131 AC, as other northern veterans prepared to leave King’s Landing, he set sail with his company for Tyrosh and the Disputed Lands. Their departure carried the company out of the postwar realm and into the mercenary conflicts that followed the Triarchy’s collapse.
