Vigilance
Fire & BloodVigilance is a storied Valyrian longsword whose recorded appearance marks the aftermath of the Battle of the Honeywine: Ormund Hightower used it to knight Daeron Targaryen after the prince’s arrival on Tessarion reversed the battle’s course.
Appearance and Use
The account identifies Vigilance as a Valyrian longsword. After the fighting, Ormund feasted Daeron on aurochs and strongwine, then dubbed him a knight with the sword and named him Ser Daeron the Daring. The text records the ceremony, but does not say that Vigilance was wielded in the battle.
Place in the Battle’s Aftermath
Daeron modestly credited the victory to Tessarion. In that setting, Vigilance was the instrument of his new knighthood, connecting the dragon’s decisive intervention to the honor bestowed by Ormund. Its appearance is brief, but it belongs to the turning point at the Honeywine: defeat gave way to victory, and a fifteen-year-old squire became a knight.
