Lorath
Fire & BloodLorath is identified as one of the Free Cities affected when conflict in the Tyroshi Stepstones disrupted maritime trade. Its place in the account is defined less by events within the city than by the alliances and commercial connections that brought it into the wider crisis.
Place in the Trade Network
When a four-sided war closed the southern end of the Narrow Sea to trade, King’s Landing, Duskendale, Maidenpool, and Gulltown lost commerce with the east. Pentos, Braavos, and Lorath were similarly affected. The closure therefore reached across both sides of the sea, disrupting the routes on which Lorath and the Westerosi ports depended.
Envoys and the Proposed Alliance
In response to the disruption, Pentos, Braavos, and Lorath sent envoys to King’s Landing. They hoped to draw the Iron Throne into a grand alliance against Racallio Ryndoon and the rivalries among the Free Cities. The regents’ Hand, Ser Tyland Lannister, received the envoys lavishly but declined their offer, judging that Westeros should not become involved in the Free Cities’ continuing conflicts.
The Coalition’s Withdrawal
The proposed coalition later lost one of its three members when Lorath withdrew. Pentoshi sellswords held the islands in the Tyroshi Stepstones that were not controlled by Racallio’s forces, while Braavosi warships controlled the surrounding waters. Lorath’s departure thus left the remaining partners facing a changed balance of power as the conflict continued.
