Romantic Ideal

Romantic Ideal Soulmate Belief Katie Moore and Richard Cartright experience their connection as effortless and destined. Fragile Assumption They rely on unspoken understanding instead of discussing future fears. The ideal of effortless love leaves them unprepared for adult decisions.

Destiny Reframed

Destiny Reframed Chance Encounter Their professional reunion feels like fate to Richard Cartright. Ethical Test The opportunity matters only if he behaves differently from the man who caused the original wound. Destiny supplies access, but not forgiveness.

Chosen Commitment

Chosen Commitment Explicit Promise Richard accepts that love must be demonstrated through fidelity, fatherhood, and permanence. Mutual Decision Katie chooses him after evaluating his changed behavior rather than surrendering to nostalgia alone. Soulmate language survives, but it is grounded in choice.
