Allysa learns about Ryle's abuse and Lily's pregnancy

It Ends with Us

Allysa learns about Ryle's abuse and Lily's pregnancy is the scene where Lily Bloom finally breaks her silence and tells her best friend—who is also her husband's sister—the full extent of the violence she has endured. The confession takes place in Allysa's bedroom, where Lily walks to her bed, takes a seat, and whispers for Allysa to sit down. Lily knows from the start that the revelation will hurt Allysa almost as much as it has hurt her, and she begins with the admission, "I don't even know where to start." What follows is a fifteen-minute outpouring in which Lily tells Allysa everything: the fight, Atlas picking her up, the hospital, and the pregnancy. She also confesses that for the last six weeks she has cried herself to sleep every single night because she has never felt so alone and so scared. By the time she finishes, both women are crying, and Allysa has responded with nothing more than the occasional "Oh, Lily."
