A Novel as Rescue Reading Toward Wholeness Bénédicte reads Éric Reinhardt’s novel as a demonstration that apparently incompatible selves may be brought into a more complete identity. It can, however, preserve complexity against the flattening effect of public appearances and posthumous silence.
