Y·N–V relationship

Living with 7 vampires

The Y/N–V relationship is formed under conditions in which identity is never stable and companionship is repeatedly tested by supernatural danger. V belongs to the group surrounding Y/N after her abandonment, and his connection with her develops through shared movement, guarded questions, physical proximity, and the recurring threat that a familiar face may conceal an entirely different being.

Identity and First Context

Y/N’s relationship with V must be understood against the shock of her first contact with the group. After Y/N’s mother drives away and leaves her alone, Y/N encounters people whose humanity is uncertain; the group eventually identifies itself as vampires. J-Hope later explains that another world exists nearby and that beings from it can sometimes take over vampire bodies while the vampires sleep. This disclosure makes V’s presence structurally ambiguous from the beginning: familiarity cannot be separated from the possibility of possession or disguise.

The relationship therefore does not begin as an ordinary human friendship. V is part of a supernatural household whose members possess knowledge Y/N lacks, while Y/N is treated as someone whose identity and bodily significance require investigation. The distinction between human and vampire, and between an original body and an occupied one, continually reshapes how V can be read as a companion.

Companionship in the Castle

V appears alongside Y/N during the group’s movement through unfamiliar spaces. When Jimin and Jungkook walk ahead, V stays beside Y/N, placing himself within her immediate traveling circle rather than at a distant or purely observational position. During this movement, V asks whether her name is Y/N. Although the question surprises her, it marks an attempt to establish her identity directly and to define their interaction through personal recognition.

V also shares the group’s moments of aimlessness and curiosity. When asked what the group had been doing, V says that they had merely been bored, and Y/N sees him standing on one of the spikes in the strange place they have entered. His behavior combines casualness with the physical confidence of someone accustomed to an environment that unsettles Y/N. The contrast gives their relationship a distinctive texture: V can treat the impossible as familiar, while Y/N must continually interpret what she is seeing.

V’s presence also has a protective or companionable dimension during the group’s return from danger. When Suga carries V on his back, Jimin runs after them, and Y/N looks back toward the mirror. Suga calls to Y/N to ask whether she is coming, placing her movement within the same departing group as V. The scene does not establish V as Y/N’s sole protector, but it does show their connection operating inside a shared network of pursuit, rescue, and collective escape.

Misrecognition and the Threat of Possession

The most severe test of Y/N’s relation to V arises when the group’s identities are disrupted. A hand suddenly takes the book Y/N has been told to carry, and the person identifies himself as V. The apparent certainty of the gesture is later exposed as deceptive. Jimin recognizes the intruder as the figure previously encountered in the other world, the one who had changed into Jin; Jin names him Jinyoung. When Jungkook realizes that the figure had been pretending to be V, he immediately asks where V is.

This revelation makes V an absent presence in the scene. The false V is dangerous precisely because the disguise exploits the trust or recognition attached to V’s appearance. Jinyoung’s imitation demonstrates that the relationship can be weaponized by an enemy: the familiar identity becomes a mask, and Y/N’s surroundings become a field of uncertain faces. The episode also confirms that V’s importance to the group is concrete enough for his disappearance to trigger immediate alarm.

The relationship’s instability is reinforced by the broader mechanics of the mirror world. A shadow pulls Y/N inside a mirror, which feels like water, while elsewhere V and Jimin appear to be sleeping as Y/N tries to communicate with Suga. These episodes place V within the story’s recurring threshold between presence and absence. He may be physically near Y/N yet unreachable, asleep while danger develops, or represented by someone else. Their bond is consequently mediated not only by conversation but also by vigilance: recognizing the real V becomes part of surviving the world around them.

Development Through Shared Danger

Y/N’s connection with V develops through repeated proximity rather than a single declaration. He walks beside her, questions her name, appears during the group’s exploration, and remains connected to the others during their attempts to leave the mirror-related danger. These actions make him part of Y/N’s emerging social world at a time when her former family structure has collapsed and the vampire group has become her principal reference point.

The relationship is also shaped by unequal knowledge. Y/N must learn that the people around her are vampires and that beings from another world can occupy their bodies. V, by contrast, is already situated within that supernatural system. His ordinary tone and physical ease do not remove the danger; they show how danger has become normalized for him. The result is a relationship built across a knowledge gap, with Y/N’s questions and V’s presence functioning as two sides of the same process of adaptation.

Later Community and New Life

The surviving evidence places V within the group’s eventual reorganization after the supernatural crisis. In the later account of their changed circumstances, Jimin, V, and Jungkook attend the same college as Y/N, while J-Hope works at an animal veterinary clinic and sometimes brings home blood bags, claiming they are for research. V is therefore not left behind as a figure belonging only to the castle or the mirror world. He becomes part of the ordinary-looking social arrangement that follows the events of the main conflict.

This new setting preserves the relationship’s central ambiguity. College life offers a conventional framework for proximity, yet the group’s concealed vampiric existence remains active beneath it. V’s shared college environment with Y/N converts their earlier companionship in dangerous supernatural spaces into an ongoing presence within daily life. The relationship consequently ends not with separation, but with continued inclusion in a collective future whose apparent normality depends on secrets that have not disappeared.
