She travels on foot through villages and woodland, trying to reach a road and contact her life in Madrid. The outside closes in A radio announcement describes a dangerous escaped patient, and local people become part of the search. Her attempt to navigate by a rough map ends when a shepherd recognizes her and strikes her down.

Alice turns her confinement into a campaign, helping staff and encouraging support for changes in leadership.
