David Parker

MY POSSESSIVE BILLIONAIRE

David Parker is the hotel manager associated with the Montero business empire in New York. Although he remains a supporting figure rather than an independent plot driver, his position makes him an important operational link between the family’s luxurious properties, Sophia’s imposed business training, and Enrique’s possessive attempts to monitor her safety.

Identity and Position

David Parker is introduced when Sophia arrives in New York aboard the Montero family’s private jet. Joaquin Montero II brings her to one of the Montero family’s five-star hotels and introduces her to David before accompanying her to a presidential suite. The hotel is presented as a self-contained luxury environment, with a Jacuzzi, a small swimming pool, a four-poster bed, a living room, a kitchen, an elaborate bathroom, and a gym containing treadmills, weights, mirrors, polished wooden flooring, and Sophia’s favored pole. David’s role is therefore not merely administrative: he manages the setting in which Sophia will live while she begins her professional transition.

David’s authority is practical and service-oriented. Joaquin tells Sophia to approach David if she needs anything or to contact Joaquin personally, placing the manager within the support structure arranged around her. The hotel’s spa, boutique, beauty salon, and other amenities are likewise made available to her, turning the property into both accommodation and a controlled extension of the Montero family’s care.

Connection to Sophia’s Training

Sophia’s stay in New York is part of an intensive introduction to the Montero business world. While she trains in the administrative department of Montero Multinational Holdings, Inc., Joaquin schedules her to rotate through the corporation’s departments and observe how transactions move through the organization. David’s hotel is the first institutional space in New York to receive her, and his introduction marks the beginning of that wider business arrangement.

The hotel also becomes the point from which Sophia’s schedule is tracked. When Enrique returns to New York after nearly a week in California, intending to dine with her, David tells him that she has left the suite to meet friends at a bar. This information is simple, but it triggers Enrique’s alarm: he does not know whom Sophia is meeting and worries that, as a wealthy young woman from Brazil, she might be kidnapped or raped. David thus becomes the source of the practical fact that transforms Enrique’s absence of information into an urgent search.

Assistance During Enrique’s Search

David’s most consequential action occurs when Enrique later arrives at Sophia’s suite carrying flowers and chocolates. After knocking for two minutes and receiving no answer, Enrique abandons the surprise he had planned and calls her mobile phone, which also goes unanswered. He summons David and orders him to open the suite. David’s access allows Enrique to inspect the rooms and confirm that Sophia is not there before Enrique contacts Bruce, his head of security, and commands him to find her immediately.

The episode reveals how the hotel operates within Enrique’s protective-control system. David does not investigate Sophia’s disappearance independently or offer a personal interpretation; he supplies access, information, and institutional cooperation. The property’s hospitality infrastructure becomes part of an increasingly intrusive chain of surveillance, moving from a manager’s report, to entry into a private suite, to the deployment of security, and finally to Enrique’s arrival at a crowded bar.

Relationship to the Montero Power Structure

David’s position reflects the scale and mobility of the Montero enterprise. Enrique manages businesses spanning shipping, real estate, hotels, and food chains, travels between continents in a private jet, and has expanded the family’s wealth dramatically. Within that transnational network, David represents the local executive who converts family authority into immediate action at a hotel property.

His dealings with Enrique also contrast with Sophia’s professional position. Sophia is sent to New York to acquire business-management skills, rotates through departments, assists Greg after Enrique fires Ella, and helps Enrique prepare a strategic expansion plan for Montero Shipping Lines using financial statements, budgets, income and expenses, profit formulas, and sales forecasts. David does not participate in these substantive decisions, but his hotel provides the controlled domestic and logistical environment surrounding them. The division is revealing: corporate power is exercised through boardrooms and financial plans, while intimate control is exercised through suites, phone calls, keys, and security access.

Narrative Function and Limits

David Parker has no developed personal arc, romance, or stated private objective in the available narrative. He is characterized through competence and availability rather than interior reflection. That limited characterization is precisely what makes him useful to the plot: he is a dependable institutional intermediary whose information can redirect Enrique’s movements without requiring a separate subplot.

His recurring presence also helps collapse the distance created by the characters’ international business lives. Enrique may be in California closing a hotel purchase or in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia pursuing an oil-and-gas venture, while Sophia’s whereabouts remain connected to Montero-controlled spaces. Through David, the hotel functions as both a luxury refuge and a node in the family’s global system. He embodies the quiet administrative machinery behind the novel’s larger conflicts over business training, arranged marriage, freedom, jealousy, and Enrique’s determination to keep Sophia within reach.
