The Rabbit Woman’s Offer

The Rabbit Woman’s Offer
A dangerous assignment
A masked woman approaches Jasper with a plan to deactivate the implant in Hazel’s brain. She explains that Hazel is being monitored and needs help before her condition worsens.
A first act of repair
Jasper agrees, motivated by his new capacity for remorse and the chance to help someone else. He asks the Rabbit Woman to find out whether his estranged parents are still alive.
An Overdose Discovered

An Overdose Discovered
A grim arrival
Jasper reaches the house expecting to find Hazel under surveillance, but instead discovers her unconscious beside her dead father and the dolls. He initially believes that Hazel has died.
A narrow opening
Hazel makes a faint sound, revealing that she may still be saved. Jasper has to act quickly while unsure whether calling for help will return her to Byron’s control.
Liver at the Door

Liver at the Door
A threat interrupted
Liver appears with a rifle and points it at Jasper, who is holding the injection meant to deactivate Hazel’s chip. The men have little reason to trust each other.
Shared purpose
After Jasper explains his intention, Liver helps revive Hazel and allows the injection. Their temporary alliance forms around an immediate need rather than a settled friendship.
The Body in the Car

The Body in the Car
A practical impossibility
Hazel insists that they cannot leave her father’s body behind, fearing Byron will use it to trace or manipulate her. Jasper offers a large cooler, originally purchased for a different plan.
An improvised departure
The group loads the body and dolls into Jasper’s car. Their escape now carries the dead alongside them, turning flight into a difficult act of care.
A Secret Funeral

A Secret Funeral
A farewell in the woods
Liver leads Jasper and Hazel to a remote place where they can leave her father’s body beyond Gogol’s immediate reach. The three survivors offer brief, imperfect words at the makeshift funeral.
Parting again
Liver stays behind to guard the grave, while Hazel and Jasper drive away. The farewell does not resolve Hazel’s grief, but it gives her father a more deliberate ending than simple disposal.
