A New Posting and a Romance

Galeni’s Ambition A deliberate return Galeni has requested reassignment to ImpSec headquarters, where he hopes to build a future beyond his earlier counterintelligence work. He is courting Laisa Toscane and trying to prove himself worthy of her family’s standing. A careful approach His caution reflects the burdens of his Komarran background and the legacy of his father. The relationship matters to him, but he delays making his intentions explicit.

The Emperor’s Rival Claim

A Romance Lost Before It Begins A missed declaration Galeni has a timetable for proposing to Laisa, but Gregor’s attention arrives first. Laisa tells Galeni she values him as a friend, and later accepts the Emperor’s proposal. Anger and restraint Galeni lashes out at Miles, whom he believes helped arrange the situation. Despite his grief, he offers Gregor congratulations and does not turn personal pain into a public challenge.

Arrest at the Reception

Treason in Public Sudden accusation ImpSec officers arrest Galeni at the Imperial Residence on a vague order from Haroche. The charge is revealed as treason, humiliating him in front of the Emperor, Laisa, and his colleagues. Personal consequences Galeni resists the arrest only with difficulty and asks Ivan to see Delia home safely. The accusation threatens not only his freedom but the political future he has worked toward.

Cleared by the Filter Evidence

The False Suspect Falls Away A better explanation Miles proves that Haroche placed the sabotaging organisms in the ventilation system of Illyan’s office. This evidence breaks the case against Galeni and exposes the arrest as part of Haroche’s attempt to create a scapegoat. Release and repair Galeni is freed and his reputation is restored. Miles apologizes for the delay, explaining that only proof against the real culprit could reliably undo the suspicion.

Choosing to Stay

A Future Reclaimed A relationship takes shape Delia remains beside Galeni through the arrest and release. Galeni had already begun to court her, and the crisis makes clear that their bond is deeper than a social convenience. Service continued He considers resigning from ImpSec but delays the decision until he has slept and spoken with his superiors. Miles urges him not to let Haroche destroy the future his sacrifices have earned.
