The Rise of the Creeper Threat
Mickey7The colony’s escalating encounters with the creepers expose how defensive certainty, technological surprise, and limited information turn isolated incidents into a continuing crisis.

A Creature in the Tunnels

The First Close Encounter
A Predatory Appearance
Mickey7 sees a giant creeper in the tunnels, with multiple mandibles, feeding limbs, and a body stretching beyond his view. Its size and posture make him expect to be eaten.
An Unexplained Release
Instead, the creature carries him to a side passage and leaves him near a path to the surface. Mickey interprets the action as a possible act of release, though he has no language with which to test the idea.
The encounter provides the first evidence that the colony’s category of “dangerous animal” may be inadequate. Fear is justified by the creature’s power, but its behavior does not fit a simple attack narrative.
A Missing Guard

The Threat Appears Nearby
A Lost Checkpoint Officer
Mickey7 encounters Gabe Torricelli at the perimeter, then later learns that the guard has disappeared and the snow near the checkpoint is churned up. The coincidence makes Mickey fear that the creepers have tracked him back.
The Colony Speculates
Berto Gomez suggests that creepers took Gabe, but the group has no firm evidence. Human discussion quickly turns the disappearance into proof of danger, even though the creatures’ actual intention remains unknown.
The event begins to move the conflict toward the dome itself. A threat once confined to distant scouting sites is now imagined as a direct risk to every person behind the colony’s defenses.
The Main Lock Breached

Defense Is Penetrated
Metal Torn Away
Creepers attack the main lock and rip through its decking. Security uses plasma to stop them, killing an injured colonist trapped in the lock as well as fighting off the breach.
Command Escalates
Hieronymus Marshall treats the damage as a potentially existential threat and orders a sweep, armed teams, and a captured specimen. The colony’s first substantial evidence of creeper capability arrives alongside further human casualties.
The breach changes the emotional geography of the conflict. The dome is no longer a secure refuge simply because it is human-built; the colony’s technology can be reached and damaged by the beings it has barely studied.
The Failed Hunt

A Tactical Failure
Attack From Below
The team moves through deep snow looking for a single creeper. The creatures emerge suddenly, wrap around Dugan and Security officers, and defeat the armor and weapons the humans expected to protect them.
One Specimen Retrieved
Mickey7 and Cat Chen escape with part of a creeper, while Nasha and Berto extract them. The survivors bring home evidence, but the operation costs three more human lives and increases fear of an attack that cannot be seen coming.
The failed hunt does not merely demonstrate that the creepers are powerful. It shows how human tactics built around visibility and individual targets fail against a society able to move beneath the snow and respond collectively.
War Footing

A Conflict Hardens
Technology Identified
The specimen’s hybrid construction confirms that the creepers possess military technology. Command reads the discovery as evidence of an organized hostile force, not as an invitation to ask what the technology is for.
Security Tightens
The colony confines personnel, arms patrols, and prepares an antimatter mission against the underground population. Each protective measure makes the next interaction more likely to be interpreted as an act of war.
The conflict is not inevitable, but it is becoming institutionally real. Fear and command decisions now outpace what the colony actually knows about the creepers’ motives or understanding of human behavior.
