Randall Whitehead Jr.

Missing You

Randall Whitehead Jr. is exposed as the operator of a covert filming scheme, and his eventual arrest does not end his role in the story: he later attacks Jessica Mastriani, blaming her for the ruin of his life.

Identity and Hidden Operation

At his father Randall Whitehead Sr.’s office, Randall Whitehead Jr. sits in a matching black-leather-and-chrome chair beside Kristin Pine, his girlfriend, whom Jessica recognizes from an earlier apartment and from a tape bearing Kristin’s name. The polished office setting places the scheme within the Whitehead family’s business world, while the evidence Jessica uncovers reveals what that respectable setting has concealed.

In Apartment 1S, a camera is concealed behind a two-way mirror, filming into a bedroom through a hole cut in the wall. Another camera, hidden beneath men’s shoes on a closet shelf, points through the closet wall into the same bedroom. The tapes are neatly labeled with girls’ names, including Kristin’s, and several copies of each are present. The duplicates raise the possibility that the recordings were intended for distribution rather than private viewing; Jessica later tells Kristin that Randall secretly filmed their intimate encounters and sold the recordings online. Kristin initially refuses to believe her.</numerusform

Arrest and Retaliation

At the meeting in Randall Whitehead Sr.’s office, Randall Whitehead Jr. pleads that he made the recordings to prove he could handle more responsibility for his father. Randall Whitehead Sr. says he has no choice but to let events proceed. Police order Randall Whitehead Jr. to face the wall and frisk him; Douglas Mastriani arrives with them, and Jessica confirms that he got there on time as she had asked.

Afterward, Hannah Snyder asks Jessica whether Randall Whitehead Jr. is in jail. Jessica tells her that he is and urges her to let the police have the tapes and to testify, explaining that if he escapes consequences he could target someone even younger. Jessica expects Hannah to blame her for taking her away from the boyfriend she loved and helping put him behind bars. She also acknowledges that Rob Wilkins would have preferred to settle the matter by physically assaulting Randall Whitehead Jr., whereas the arrest exposes him to legal consequences instead.

Randall Whitehead Jr.’s arrest does not end his conflict with Jessica. Later, he approaches her on the steps and grabs her by the throat, forcing her back against a screen door. He tells her that she has ruined his life; his grip prevents her from breathing or calling for help. The attack turns his grievance over exposure into direct violence against the person who uncovered his scheme.

Relationship with Hannah Snyder

Hannah Snyder’s account traces Randall Whitehead Jr.’s influence to their first contact in a private chat room. She describes him as everything she had dreamed of and says he asked her to spend a weekend with him, but her mother refused. Jessica recognizes that Hannah had told Rob Wilkins a story about her mother’s boyfriends making advances toward her; Rob believed her and invited her to stay at his home on a trial basis. Hannah then left Rob for Randall as soon as she could. She admits that she had wanted to tell Rob where she was, but Randall had said something that stopped her; the account breaks off before she explains what.

Jessica responds by taking Hannah back to Rob’s house and insisting that the adults address what was happening at her mother’s home. She predicts that Hannah’s mother will deny that any of her former partners had hit on Hannah, and says she believes the mother. The exchange presents Randall’s relationship with Hannah against a wider pattern of dependence and concealment: Hannah’s attachment to him had drawn her away from Rob and into a story that Jessica believes was untrue, while Hannah’s interrupted explanation leaves the precise nature of Randall’s pressure unstated.

The Scheme’s Wider Reach

Jessica Mastriani’s response to Randall Whitehead Jr.’s recordings extended beyond the evidence recovered from his apartment: she contacted the girls involved and then their parents, checking whether the parents would welcome their daughters home without disclosing where the girls were. Cyrus Krantz later praised the calls as a particularly effective part of her effort to disrupt amateur-porn operations, while revealing that he had monitored Jessica’s phone. The episode shows how Randall’s covert filming became the focus of a broader effort to protect the girls and return them to their families, even as Jessica’s methods brought her own privacy under government surveillance.
