Nemrod–Tyler rivalry
Mon Loup AlphaNemrod–Tyler rivalry is a contest for leadership of a unified pack of werewolves and jaguar-garous, made concrete when one of Tyler’s jaguar-garou henchmen attacks Nemrod at Julien’s apartment. The confrontation exposes the danger behind Nemrod’s private life: his claim on Julien is bound to a broader struggle for power, and Julien ultimately chooses to enter that struggle as Nemrod’s companion.
A rivalry behind the attack
The conflict is first encountered not as a formal challenge between leaders but as an interruption of intimacy. After Nemrod names Julien his companion and the two draw close, scratching at the bedroom window breaks their private moment. Julien looks outside and sees a real jaguar, not a dog, cat, or wild wolf. The shift from an unseen threat to a specific predator gives the rivalry its first unmistakable physical form.
The jaguar and Nemrod answer one another with roars and hold their ground. Nemrod then launches himself through the window, shattering it, and the two animals fight. The contest is initially balanced, but the jaguar gains the advantage and pins Nemrod down with its paws at his throat. Nemrod escapes the hold and throws the attacker over the balcony. The fall is only a few metres; the attacker is likely injured, but the scene does not establish that he is dead. The encounter therefore ends with Nemrod having repelled an assault, not with the larger rivalry resolved.
The leadership contest revealed
Once Nemrod has returned to human form, Julien asks who the attacker was. Nemrod calls him an enemy and explains that Tyler the jaguar is pursuing him; the jaguar thrown from the building was one of Tyler’s henchmen. He also discloses the stakes: he is fighting to become leader of a unified pack of werewolves and jaguar-garous. The explanation recasts the attack from an isolated encounter with a wild animal into an act connected to an organized political conflict.
A tattoo of a jaguar and a wolf on Nemrod’s forearm already hints at the coalition at the center of the struggle. The alliance is significant because the rivals are associated with different animal identities, while the prospective pack is defined by bringing those kinds together. The evidence identifies Tyler as Nemrod’s pursuer and the assailant as Tyler’s subordinate, but does not describe Tyler’s personal motives, the history of the contest, or the precise rules by which leadership will be decided. The rivalry is therefore clearly about power over the proposed united group, even as its wider political background remains undisclosed.
From pursuit to shared danger
Nemrod recognizes that the attack has endangered Julien. He apologizes for involving him and says that he is in the middle of a political conflict and is putting Julien at risk. This warning makes the rivalry consequential beyond the combatants: the struggle follows Nemrod into the place where he and Julien have begun their relationship, turning a bedroom window into a point of entry for the clan conflict.
Julien answers that he is Nemrod’s companion now and that the conflict concerns him whether Nemrod wants it to or not. His decision is not presented as a separate bid for status; it follows from the bond he has accepted and his desire to belong in Nemrod’s life. By aligning himself with Nemrod, Julien also accepts that Nemrod’s enemies may threaten him. The rivalry thus changes the meaning of companionship from intimate recognition into a commitment with political and physical consequences.
The attacker’s return and the unresolved struggle
Later, while working at a Montreal hospital, Julien reads a patient’s chart: Sam Stanton, twenty-seven, was found in the street, had superficial injuries, and was suspected of having fallen one storey, though he had not confirmed what happened. Seeing the blond patient, Julien realizes that Sam is the jaguar Nemrod threw from the balcony, now restored to human form. This recognition confirms that the attacker survived and connects the supernatural confrontation to a named human identity and an ordinary hospital record.
The discovery does not settle the rivalry. Sam’s presence in the hospital shows that the balcony fight had consequences beyond the apartment, while Nemrod’s contest for leadership remains active. Julien later decides to go to Nemrod and help him win the clan war. In that closing choice, the conflict has drawn him from loneliness and the search for affection into an alliance with a leader whose struggle is still underway. The immediate attacker has been identified, but the larger contest with Tyler remains unresolved.
