Ilya warns that it carries only one charge remaining—possibly two at most—making it a weapon of last resort rather than a routine tool. Anton keeps it hidden among his equipment, never having used it before, and takes it with him when he sets out for his final confrontation with Gesar and the plan to rewrite Egor's destiny.

The disc is described as an ancient round piece of bronze, its age and craftsmanship suggesting it was forged long before the modern era of magical artifacts. Unlike the onyx amulet Anton typically carries, which stores diffuse energy for general use, the combat disc is a single-purpose device: it contains a concentrated spell that, when activated, manifests as a white cobra of fire. Deployment on the Roof

During the standoff on the roof of Egor's building, when Zabulon appears in his demonic form and threatens to destroy the Night Watch agents, Ilya draws the combat disc and unleashes its charge. The white cobra erupts from the wand, growing to fill a quarter of the roof, its body sprouting silvery scales and its head forming a hood with eyes the size of truck wheels. It falls on Zabulon, rapidly winding its coils around his head and body, pinning him to the ground. The cobra's attack is so fierce that it continues to fight across all levels of the Twilight simultaneously, draining the energy Ilya had stored in the disc. For a critical interval, Zabulon is helpless, unable to intervene as Egor escapes into the deeper Twilight and the Night Watch regains the upper hand.

Consequences and Aftermath

The combat disc's single use changes the tactical balance of the roof battle. While Zabulon is entangled, Ilya draws a second, less powerful wand, and the other Night Watch agents—Tiger Cub, Bear, and Semyon—are able to subdue the vampire and the Day Watch operatives. The cobra eventually explodes in a vortex of Light and Darkness, scattering glowing clouds and sparks, but by then Zabulon has been forced to retreat and the crisis is resolved. The disc is expended in this one action; it is never mentioned again. Its brief but decisive role illustrates the Night Watch's practice of equipping field agents with pre-charged artifacts for emergencies, and the high cost—both in magical resources and in the risk of escalation—that such weapons entail.
