It functions as a self-contained bubble of ordinary reality within the shadow world, preventing the Twilight from draining the life energy of those inside. The sphere is not a permanent structure but a temporary, energy-intensive barrier that must be actively maintained by the magician who creates it. Its most dramatic appearance in the narrative occurs when Anton Gorodetsky uses it to rescue the boy Egor, who has fallen into a Twilight coma after entering the shadow world for the first time without proper training or protection.

Creation and Mechanism

The Sphere of Exclusion is formed by a magician "sealing off" themselves and another person from the Twilight. Anton, acting on a sharp command from his partner Olga, manages to create the sphere in a matter of seconds—a feat that normally takes him more than a minute. To break the stalemate and force the Twilight to release its prey, Anton deliberately slashes his own wrist with a penknife.
