Clean up on aisle seven

Of Fates & Fables (The Complete Series)

Clean up on aisle seven is a code phrase used during Romy and Talia’s escape with a group of captive girls. Its ordinary, almost comic wording disguises a practical signal: Talia directs Romy to deliver it to a contact saved as Janitor, then discard the phone so its GPS signal can guide someone to them.

The Signal and Its Instructions

While the group rides in a battered truck, Talia tosses Romy her phone and tells her to find Janitor in the contacts. Romy is to dial the number, say Clean up on aisle seven when someone answers, and throw the phone out onto the roadside. The phrase is therefore not simply an expression of alarm; within this scene, it is the prescribed verbal step in a larger escape plan.

The Call

Romy finds the contact and places the call. After three rings, a gruff Russian voice answers. She says the phrase, and the line goes dead. Unsure whether the signal worked, Romy asks Talia, who assures her that it did. Talia explains that the phone must be thrown somewhere it will remain intact, because the person coming for them will need its GPS signal.

Function in the Escape

Kash takes the phone and throws it onto the roadside shoulder, following Talia’s instruction to avoid breaking it; the truck then continues with two dozen stunned girls aboard. The scene links the phrase to the phone’s tracking function and to outside assistance, while leaving the identity of the person who needs the GPS signal unstated. Its brisk, matter-of-fact delivery also contrasts with the group’s danger: an everyday-sounding phrase becomes part of a carefully coordinated escape.
