A Secret Train

A Secret Train
The concealed return
The party leaves Tirnamardi aboard an ordinary train rather than the conspicuous Red Train. Its cover story and lowered shades conceal the presence of Ilisidi, Cajeiri, Lord Tatiseigi, Bren Cameron, Jase Graham, and the children.
Speed as protection
The decision favors speed over armor. The travelers move without reliable communications, knowing that the route is predictable and that enemies may have learned of the violence at Kadagidi territory.
The journey returns the central figures to Bujavid, but does not restore ordinary life. They arrive amid an unstable capital, with prisoners in custody and the next move against the Shadow Guild already taking shape.
A Guarded Arrival

A Guarded Arrival
Through the station
The party reaches Bujavid by a secured lift and disembarks quickly. Guild teams protect the principals while Jase Graham and his guards help keep the human children together and out of danger.
Competing responsibilities
Ilisidi assigns Cajeiri and his guests to Lord Tatiseigi’s apartment, while Bren is left to inform Tabini and host Jase. Every household arrangement is provisional because political decisions and security threats may change the plan.
The calm of the corridor is a temporary refuge. The return has put the aiji’s family, the dowager, and their allies under one roof, but it has also brought their enemies’ crisis into the heart of the government.
The Aiji's Briefing

The Aiji's Briefing
Reporting the clash
Bren tells Tabini that the Kadagidi operation began with an attempted assassination at Lord Tatiseigi’s estate and that Lord Aseida is now in custody. Jase’s recording offers a means to establish who fired first.
Wider danger
Bren also warns that Shadow Guild activity extends beyond the northern estate and that the capital cannot assume its communications or personnel are secure. Tabini learns the immediate facts, but not every detail of the unfolding plan.
The briefing shows Bren balancing official candor with deliberate limits. He must report enough to protect the aijinate while keeping a sensitive operation from becoming vulnerable to compromised channels.
