Ronald Green

Queen of Hearts

Ronald Green, known as Ronnie, is Cy Goldman’s secretary and a recurring organizer at the intersections of film production and the investigation at Goldman’s estate. He helps Georgiana Rannoch enter the Golden Pictures studio, explains a dispute disrupting a scene, and later assists the sheriff at the house. His importance lies less in a personal subplot than in his steady movement between people and places as the story shifts from filmmaking to murder inquiry.

Identity and Position

Ronnie identifies himself to Sheriff Billings as Mr. Goldman’s secretary, giving his full name as Ronald Green. He is also a familiar presence at the studio: he carries a clipboard, meets Georgiana when her car arrives, and leads her inside. Across these settings, he functions as a point of access and information, able to welcome a visitor to a set and to account for the household’s arrangements when an investigation begins.

The available scenes show him working within other people’s affairs rather than pursuing a separate objective of his own. At the studio, he helps Georgiana observe a production; at the estate, he responds to the disappearance of Cy Goldman and the candlesticks; and when Sheriff Billings arrives, Ronnie directs him toward the body. His role gives him practical authority without making him the center of either the production or the investigation.

At the Golden Pictures Studio

Before Georgiana’s visit, Ronnie tells her she is welcome to come to the set and offers to send a car. When it arrives, she is taken through the Golden Pictures studio grounds, past a town square and a European village set. Ronnie comes out to meet her with his clipboard and leads her into the dark soundstage, where a palace room has been built. Georgiana sees her mother in costume facing Juan, and Ronnie signals for quiet as filming is about to begin. His welcome turns her arrival into a guided introduction to the set rather than an uncertain entrance into an unfamiliar workplace.

Ronnie also keeps Georgiana informed when the production is disrupted. He tells her that Cy has just informed Juan he will no longer play Philip, leaving Juan upset and Stella Brightwell furious. The explanation is immediately borne out when Stella storms from the set in Elizabethan costume, with Cy close behind. Ronnie’s report supplies the circumstances behind the confrontation; it also shows his awareness of the tensions that can interrupt the work happening in front of the cameras.

Discovery at the Estate

Later, Ronnie helps uncover that something is wrong in Goldman’s library. After Algie Broxley-Foggett mentions that Goldman had still been there when he left, Ronnie steps over the armor and opens the library door. The smell of cigar smoke remains, but Goldman is gone. Ronnie remarks that it is strange no one noticed him leave, then discovers that the candlesticks are missing. Darcy O’Mara and Georgiana enter the room and see a foot, turning Ronnie’s discovery of an empty room and missing objects into the immediate sight of a body.

The order of these observations matters: the absent host and vanished candlesticks first register as unexplained irregularities, while the foot makes the danger unmistakable. Ronnie does not identify who is responsible in these scenes. His contribution is to notice and state the concrete facts that move the characters from uncertainty into the murder investigation.

Cooperation with the Sheriff

When Sheriff Billings arrives, Ronnie leads him through the house and explains who is present. The assembled household is together in one room, but the servants are not: Maria is the only servant in the house, while her husband, Francisco, helps with heavy work. Local women assist with cooking and cleaning at large parties. Four groundsmen are driving around the fence to look for a possible point of entry, and Jimmy is at the gate. Ronnie’s account gives the sheriff a practical picture of who is on the estate and where the search for an intruder is taking place.

The sheriff is already irritated with Jimmy for refusing him entry despite his badge, but Ronnie distinguishes the gatekeeper’s presence from the groundsmen’s search and supplies the household details the sheriff requests. He then takes the sheriff to the body. From welcoming Georgiana into a staged palace room to guiding an officer through a real crime scene, Ronnie repeatedly serves as a guide through controlled spaces—and as a source of information when the boundaries around those spaces fail.
