Indrajit’s Triumph

Indrajit’s Triumph
Magic turns the tide
Indrajit uses concealment and the serpent noose to bind Ráma and Lakshmaṇ. The Vánar host believes its leaders are lost, and Rávaṇ’s court celebrates.
A temporary victory
Garuḍa frees the brothers, making the triumph short-lived. The episode demonstrates that Rávaṇ’s forces can wound Ráma’s army but cannot secure a lasting victory through magic alone.

Kumbhakarna’s Final Battle
A brother awakened
Rávaṇ rouses Kumbhakarṇa, whose strength he hopes will reverse the war. Kumbhakarṇa recognizes that his brother’s choices have caused the crisis but goes to battle nonetheless.
Strength cannot save him
He devastates the Vánar ranks before Ráma kills him. His fall removes Rávaṇ’s greatest physical defender and deepens the king’s isolation.
A Father’s Grief

A Father’s Grief
The heir falls
Rávaṇ hears that Indrajit has been killed and mourns the son who was both his pride and his strongest remaining champion. The loss leaves the king exposed to the final confrontation.
Grief becomes vengeance
Rather than accept the defeat or restore Sítá, Rávaṇ renews his resolve to fight. His private bereavement drives the war toward its last and most destructive stage.
